In 1987, after the death of her fiance, Marjorie McKinnon wrote The Greatest of These is Love,
the story of what it is like to prepare someone for death. A year
later, prompted be severe depression and surfacing memories, she
entered a program for recovery from incest, a journey that would take
almost five years to complete. During that time, she wrote about
her experience, a chronicle of going from a place of despair to one of
joy. That book, titled Let Me Hurt You and Don't Cry Out, was her first attempt to publish.
Unable to sell it, she spent the next three years developing a program on recovery from childhood sexual abuse. Despite being a non-professional, it was her belief that a program devised by someone who had walked the same road would be a sensitive and pragmatic resource. She titled that self-published book REPAIR: A Program for Recovery from Incest & Childhood Sexual Abuse and used it as an accompaniment to seminars she taught in the Los Angeles area. Loving Healing Press has recently released both the adult version, REPAIR Your Life: A Program for Recovery from Incest and Childhood Sexual Abuse and the children's version, REPAIR For Kids: A Children's Program for Recovery from Incest and Childhood Sexual Abuse. Both are available through all major book distributors. An interview on her experience was taped for a national television network and aired in December of 1998. Also completed is a trilogy that follows the life of Kathleen McGuire whose spirit guide, Jake, provides her with wisdom and direction from another world. Book one, titled The Box, takes place in Sedona, Arizona. Book two, The Stone, takes place in Scotland, and Book three, The Photo, takes place in London. The last two books are time-travel novels. All three have been meticulously researched. Three non-fiction works, Mystical Experiences: Tales of the Inner Light Blue Skies and Green Lights: How To Create A Perfect World Through Positive Growth in the Six Dimensions and A Common Sense Spiritual Path, as well as two other fiction works, When First We Practice to Deceive, a mystery novel, and Here Lies are all completed. Also completed is a book titled Inner Voices, a collection of wisdom learned over the years. Hello My Name is Marjorie, close to completion, is a sprightly and often humorous email account of her courtship with Tom McKinnon, her husband, who she met on the Internet while doing genealogy research (her name was also McKinnon). They currently reside in the Sedona, Arizona area. A novel, titled After the Rain, plus a non-fiction work called Our Greatest Asset: The Elderly are works in progress. Marjorie is the founder of The Lamplighters, a rapidly growing movement for survivors of incest and childhood sexual abuse.Currently, there are 38 chapters, 33 in 23 states, one in Japan, 2 in Africa (Nigeria and Kenya) and two in Canada (Kichner, Ontario and Edmonto, Alberta).
